Located just off the coast in the Gulf of Mexico, the Macuspana Basin hosts a number of small fields but has yielded substantial new discoveries of gas over the past few years, attracting global mining companies.

Our project in the Macuspana Basin utilizes hydraulic fracking to extract shale gas. With the use of cutting-edge equipment and advanced infrastructure, we have been able to produce significant amounts of shale gas since the establishment of the project in 2018.

Following various feasibility studies, the evaluation of economic viability, establishment of site sustainability and acquisition of a license for fracking in the area, we drilled horizontal wells around one kilometer deep into the seabed and shale rock to reach and safely extract the shale gas.

Annually, this site has produced an average of 970 million cubic meters of shale gas. Mexico is widely estimated to possess the fourth-largest reserves of the natural resource in the world, and CDMX Mining aims to increase productivity at this site by installing an additional three drilling platforms to open up new access points to the reserves in our licensed area.
